The 707-138 was not capable of nonstop trans-Pacific flights, even when converted to fanjet engines as the -138B. San Francisco-Sydney flights made stops in Honolulu and Nadi, Fiji.
Qantas bought six new -138Bs as well as converting the seven -138s', so a total of 13 short-body 707s were built ...
