Thanks for posting. I removed the pad and got better response. I also peeled back the foil on the screw peg as another video mentions and that solved the problem completely. I was about to scream bloody murder at Asus for selling a piece of junk. A short in the ground? sheesh...
Worked like a charm! I also removed the pad. The one shown in some videos was missing in mine but I could tell that one had been there. But it was the ground causing the problem. I used an X-Acto knife to gently peel back the foil and pressed it down the back of the screw post. As others have...
It is a ground short under the touchpad. I peeled back the foil and now it works fine.
