Rekords Rekords exists for one purpose - to make music. Founded by Queens of the Stone Age and Them Crooked Vultures frontman Josh Homme. There's no ulterior motive here, overbearing corporate machine, middleman or pressure to conform. Just art in its purest form. As Josh sees it, "now is a great time to make music for the sake of making music. Single, shmingle, just make a fucking piece of art."

The first release for 2011 is a reissue of Homme's 'hour zero', the self titled debut by Queens Of The Stone Age. This Rekords Rekords re-issue, in conjunction with Domino, has been fully remastered from the original tapes and has been expanded by three tracks. "The Bronze" & "These Aren't the Droids Your Looking For" (from the split EP from '98) and "Spiders and Vinegaroons" which was part of the posthumous Kyuss/QOTSA split EP.

The next release landing in 2011 is Queens of the Stone Age cohort Alain Johannes' solo debut Spark. Here, he pays tribute to his late wife and creative partner Natasha Shneider with an honest and heartfelt collection of songs. "The rollercoaster of Spark's fragile beauty is the reason I started playing music", says Homme , "some things that can't be explained with words. This record is such a great example of what cannot be said but what is so true."

Also dropping this year is the debut from Mini Mansions, a project started by Michael Shuman while on a break from Queens of the Stone Age. He melded heads with longtime friends Tyler Parkford and Zach Dawes in a dusty room in the San Fernando Valley and it was born. Shuman describes it as "completely different than anything that's coming out right now and it's something very special."
