About this user
On my 2nd marriage I have 4 kids ages 18-34 from my first 20 year marriage, 2 stepkids age 16 and 21 by different biomoms, 8 grandkids ages 1-15. The 15yo is my stepgrandaughter and although my son divorced her mom, they both remain mine.
We now have an empty nest.
I've done a wide variety of jobs, like arresting shoplifters for a major dept store, and owned multiple businesses throughout my adulthood, like web design, forms analysis and design, diamond plated tools.

My favorite business was with my first husband - The Machine Shop in Morro Bay, CA, fishermen and their boats were our customers. It was on the bay. We grossed about $5000 a month, which kept the business going and paid both families involved $1000 a month, after a year we bought out the partner, a year later government changed fishing rules, the fishermen were going bankrupt, and we nearly did. Suddenly grossed only $800. We had to fire our only employee, and I learned to operate the lathe and mill at the same time to churn out 2000 pieces of a part -- doubling production of our previous employee. It helped keep our heads afloat until the city finally allowed us to sell the building 2 years later.
I've done a variety of volunteer work. Newborn photographer UCLA Harbor Hospital. Food for the Homeless. Wild bird washer (oil slick). Library storybook reader and my Boo cat therapy animal what I'm working towards now. In high school I taught elementary creative dramatics. I excelled in high school drama. I mostly put that part of my life on hold, and am picking it back up again by reading to local preschool and planning to go back to college for theatre arts.

I have my General Ham Radio License. Why? Because my husband claims we're going to buy a sailboat and sail the world, and I need the license. But I wasn't willing to get it until it became about inspiring grandkids to dare to do something out of their comfort zone. I got a 100% on my Technician test, so went on to get my General license. Currently we have 18 family members across the US who have received or are working on getting their licenses. See my amateur radio playlist for the video about that.
My husband and I are trained in CERT, Community Emergency Response Team , and will continue training.

Went to India with husband on business. Visited the child we've sponsored since 2005, never expecting to have a reason to travel to India. See India playlist. btw, we got our ham radio licenses in India - they required we do that to transmit while in India. Leave it to my husband to choose not to snail mail the app, and surprise them with a personal visit. They didn't quite know what to do with us.
