I've been using =Index(...match()) to lookup values to the left of the value column for the past few weeks. Lookup seems to have the same capabiily; However make sure the lookup vector and lookup result column's are "absoluted" =lookup(Z1, F$1$:F$100$, A$1$:A$100$)
