I've seen the music video to this once. My mom told me that my grandpa (her dad) dropped out of school in the 6th grade and went to Oklahoma to pick cotton (that would've been about 1948).

I have the Don Troiani book that's in this video. I have been studying the Civil War for 20 years or so. There were comments during that war that the war was uncivil. There is no such thing as a civil war; only uncivil wars.

I think I first heard this song on "Young Riders" (about the Pony Express; had one of the Baldwin brothers in it). Then, it was played at the funeral of a deputy. Ever since then, I cry about half the time I hear it.

@Migdalskis This song is about child abuse and the hell children go through. I survived child abuse and domestic violence; my two oldest children survived child abuse by their so call 'father' after I told him to leave. I got tired of him abusing me; then, he abused my two oldest kids.
