曲取自《La Paloma》。中文的第一版本， 是金嗓子周璇原唱《鸽子》，黎锦晖填词，与这首《白鸽》不同歌词。此曲已被唱了140年。据说1861年，西班牙作曲家Seba­stián Iradier (后称 Yradier) 当年到了古巴一趟后，而谱写成。于1863年，在默默无名的去世前两年，Yradier 相信有制作过此曲子。很可惜他都无法知道这首歌，今日在世界各地所受欢迎程度。英文版《 No More》是猫王于1961年唱红的; 也是电影《 蓝色夏威夷》 的插曲。
