Knowledge is the key.
علم وعمل واعتدال وتمسك بالمذاهب الأربعة
* This world has to have a CREATOR. That creator is God (Allah). Can there be a book without a writer? A building without a builder? No.
Thus this world has to have a CREATOR, who is most powerful. Allah is the name of God in Arabic, who is the one who is attributed with Godhood alone, and has the power to create. God is the CREATOR. He is Eternal, and everything else is created. God has NO Beginning, and NO Ending. He Exists Without a Place, He is not a body or form. He does not occupy a place or a direction.
Remember, to be a proper believer, you must believe that: God is eternal. He does not need anything. God does not resemble his creations in anyway. God (Allah) Exists, Not everywhere, nor on the throne, He exists Without a place. God sent Muslim Prophets, like Adam, Moses, Abraham, Jesus & Muhammad.
How Does One Become Muslim?
To become Muslim is an easy matter: it is to believe in the heart in the meaning of the two Testifications of faith, and to utter them with the tongue either in Arabic or any other language (even if one knows Arabic). One may utter the words mentioned below, or any other expression giving the same meaning:
In English, one would say:
"I bear witness that no one deserves to be worshiped except Allah
and I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah"
In Arabic, one would say:
أشهدُ أنْ لا إلهَ إلاَّ اللهُ
وأشهدُ أنَّ محمّداً رسولُ الله
(Ashhadu Alla Ilaha Illallah, Wa Ashhadu Anna Muhammadar-Rasulullah)
The first Testification means that no one deserves to be worshiped except God Who is the Creator of everything.
The Second Testification states that Muhammad, the son of ^Abdullah, who was born in Makkah about 1400 years ago, is the Messenger of God. He was sent to convey what God revealed to him so that the humans believe in and work with the Laws he received and brought. He is truthful in all what he conveyed.
The Two Testifications reject the Godhood of anyone or anything other than God. They confirm the Godhood of God only with the acknowledgement of the message of Prophet Muhammad.
Important Note: One does not become Muslim if they do not utter with their tongue the two Testifications of faith, even if the person holds the proper belief in their heart.
Basic Islamic Belief
One has to believe that Allah the Creator exists, and He is not similar to anything. He is the only Creator and the only One Who deserves to be worshiped. He does not need anything and everything needs Him. God has Attributes of perfection that befit Him and any imperfection is not attributable to Him. Any imperfection, such as ignorance, place, direction, body, soul, organ, children, change or weakness, is not attributed to God.
Imam Ahmad Ibn Hanbal said what means:
"Whatever you imagine in your mind, God is different from it."

God (Allah) is great, He is exalted and clear from all imperfection and non befitting attributes. He has no beginning and no ending, and exists without a place. He subjugates the throne and the creations, and is clear from having a form or a body and clear from movement, Nothing resembles Allah in any way.
