Kevin Sandbloom's new CD, STILL
BLUE, is an idea born on the back
porch of a friend's house in Silver Lake.
To take Joni Mitchell's classic 1971
album, Blue, and rework it in his style.
The fact that it's a record written from a
strong woman's point of view, made
the record even that much more of a
challenge.

By all accounts, it lives up to the task
of straddling many worlds. Old and
new. Male and female. Folk and soul.
He brings a contemporary voice and
production to the songs, yet retains the
earthiness in which these songs were
born. We hope it will take you on a
brand new journey down a familiar
road. Enjoy.

"Highlights include 'All I Really Want,'
which really captures the optimism and
unqualified love of the original. His
cover of the title track, has a faster pace
than the original, with a much more
upbeat tone, and scatting that adds a
lot. His cover of 'California' feels closer
to the original, and it might be my
favorite song of the album (he meets a
redhead on a Grecian Isle, rather than
a redneck). I think he conveys the
sense of wandering and yearning for
home that Joni intended. His cover of
'A Case of You' is breathtaking, and
feels a bit more mournful than the
original recording. Not that there's
anything wrong with that: there
certainly is a dark side to the lyrics."
