Welcome to my channel. I'm Ricky-Charles. I have been a full time flameworker for 40 years. The first 20 years I made traditional items, animals and woven work. Some of my woven work was quite huge, like the "biggest ship" video here.
The last 20 years I made mostly "one of a kind" solid sculptures and taught large scale flameworking in many locations around the country and in Switcherland I have also written articles for glass publications about flamewoeing safty issues and on how I make. I think of my sculptures as stories, I strive to allow my work to express my emotions, what I am feeling rather than what I am thinking. Most of my sculptures are rather large scale for flameworking and take a long time to make, some requiring over 10 hours in the flame and are annealed many times before finished. Normally I will spend months on a single sculpture and have a number of sculptures going at any given time. To remember my roots I developed a performance combining story telling with the traditional small items I grew up on that I performed at a lot of events all over the country, mostly entertaining kids. From 96 to 06 I owned a gallery / working studio in Wimberley Texas.

Although I still play in the fire, I have retired from teaching and selling my work. I hope you enjoy my images here, as well as my other videos. I will be adding more from time to time.
I believe that even though flameworking is almost 2000 years old we haven't even began to scratch the surface of what is to come. I consider myself an infant in what's to come in flameworkig and I still get as excited when I light my torch as I did the first time. Who could ask for more?
