Hate that dropping the weight afterwards. It would indeed get you bared from most gyms. That said, good fornm on the positive, but just half a lift really as the negative counts.

Not sure that half squats do much (unless you're training them for something specific). Maybe a deeper (parallel) squat with 1/4 less weight would bring better results.
