'Where are you from Joe?'
'The Country, I'm Country Joe...'
He's also known as Hop Man Jr...
Here is a portal to his very own vortex of insomnia:
http://www.myspace.com/hopmanjrThe riots being depicted took place in Indonesia's capital, Jakarta on July 28, 1996 in support of Megawati Sukamoputri, and against the action taken by the Suharto dictatorship to curb her influence, even within her own party, the Democratic Party of Struggle AKA the PDI-P. She would eventually serve her country as its first female president, her term beginning in July 2001 when she was appointed by the People's Consultive Assembly immediately after it had removed from the same position, Abdurrahman Wahid, under whom she had served as Vice-President. It ended in October 2004 when she lost an election, in the same year she was ranked number 8 in Forbes magazine's list of the top 100 most poweful women in the wolrld, she is, once again, currently standing for election against the man who previously defeated her, President Susilo Hudhoyono. Apparently she 'demands close watch on polls':
http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2009/03/22/megawati-de...In 1986, in the Phillipines -a country which neighbours Indonesia - there took place a revolution which removed the long dictatorship of Ronald Reagan's friend Ferdinand Marcos. It was called The People Power Revolution. In his 'finest hour', as his grip on power weakened the President had the following conversation with a General, during a press conference which was being broadcast live on television:
Fabian Ver: We have to immobilize the helicopters they've got. We have two fighter planes flying now to strike at any time, sir.
Ferdinand Marcos: My order is not to attack.
Ver: They are massing civilians near our troops and we cannot keep on withdrawing. You asked me to withdraw yesterday....
Marcos (interrupting): My order is to disperse [them] without shooting them.
Ver: We cannot withdraw all the time...
Marcos:' No, no, no! Hold on. You disperse the crowds without shooting them. You may use any other weapon...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPAtrlIH-ykIn 2001 the Phillipines saw a return of 'people power'; the so-called 'People Power Revolution 2' succesfully removed another former film star President, Joseph Estrada from office, following allegations of gross corruption. Estada himself blamed the 'text generation' for his removal. Text messages were widely used to spread the news of Estrada's corruption; and to organize opposition meetings and protests, termed 'mobile-ization' at least by the Programme Director of the World Goverance Survey, Julius Cort . Before the revolution had begun Estrada had called for a crackdown on text messages abusing him. Then people began simply to send each other exclamation marks as a symbol of their oppostion. In the week of 'People Power Revolution 2', Phillipine Mobile handled over seventy million text messages! Reuters reported the technology literally putting power in people's hands. According to Julius Cort 'Manilla is the texting capital of the world' and 'Filipinos can often text with either and sometimes even both hands. They also text while driving no mean feat on Manilas dangerous streets.'
In the Phillipines, .a country of about ninety million people, while Manila itself is home to over fourteen million, there are, or rather were, however, only 4.5 million mobile phones. Armando Dorinillo writes:
'People power movements have been an Imperial Manila phenomenon. Their playing field is EDSA. They have excluded the provincianos from their movement with their insufferable arrogance and snobbery ... ignoring the existence of the toiling masses and peasants in agrarian Philippines.'

Be not as common fools; if you are not,
Let them have cushions by you. You are plebeians,
If they be senators: and they are no less,

Most palates theirs...'
