@csokijegkrem Though Darcy was richer, Bingley was no chop liver. He had a town house in London and could afford to rent Netherfield as a home till he settled down within 30 miles of Darcy. He certainly could have afforded 2 more horses for his carriage, there was just no need for it. He probably...

This adaptation got the barouche box all wrong. Lady C was not offering the girls a ride in it because the box is an exterior luggage compartment. Since her maid (Dawson) does not mind sitting on the box and the girls are not large, there is sufficient room in the barouche for the gi...

@cricketsong4045 You got the PG explanation, for hearts can mend in time. Wickham would not be sated with simple seductions. He needed to deflower a few virgins while in Meryton. As Mary said,"that loss of virtue in a female is irretrievable -- that one false step involves her in endless ruin.." ...

@skulblaka92 IMO Matthew interpreted Darcy as a man that was not prideful but was only shy & misunderstood. This was not the Darcy Austen created & he doesn't undergo the vital transformation in himself that Lizzy induces. He only has to be understood and acquire more social graces. He is a shy p...

@trw1501 Caroline was only aware of the affections of Lizzy for Wickham and the mention of his name at Pemberly was to remind Darcy of this and the absurdity of the family's attraction to the militia. Remember that at the Netherfield ball, Caroline warned Lizzy not to believe in what Wickham said...

In January, 2009, the painting was auctioned at Bonham's for 12,000 pounds. The painting was accompanied with a signed letter from Colin Firth as to its use in this production. Can you imagine that hanging in your livingroom?

@NotAgain90 This is not entirely correct either. Women could inherit property in an entail if all male heirs of a lineage had died off. If Mr. Collins had only daughters and there were no other male claimants, the property would revert back to the Bennett sisters and it would have been divided eq...

@evervowed I agree with your comments - but do you think that Darcy interpreted Lizzy's statement as a rebuke since he had not authorized her to make her knowledge of Wickham public? It may explain his motivatation to act the way he did, to right a wrong which he had believed to have caused.

@freeofbags Leave Wickham alone, he's my man. He takes what he wants and when he wants. Why have flesh for fantasy when you can have a willing, stupid, slack fifteen year old? And he has absolutely no shame, why he simply simpers and smirks .......!
