Yes you are right Chandrashekharji. The actress is Vijyalaxmi. She was a good actress but never got a big break apart from small supporting roles. But this song and all the songs of Aah were fantastic.

I recently bought DVD of film Lahore and the print is excellent. Lead actors are karan Dewan and Nargis. The music by Shyam Sunder is excellent. This a 1949 movie and Lataji had just made her place as a playback singer and her voice was definitely fresh and sweet at the time.

This song was the magic of the great Gulam Mohamed and written by Shakeel Badayuni Saheb. All other songs were also very popular but no doubt that Cukoo and Shamshad Begum for ages were complimenting each other.
