The first version of this that I ever heard was a single released by PJ Proby , but Elvis's version is far superior.

I totally agree with Jackie61 , this should have been released as a single , it is miles ahead of anything that was around in the charts at the time.

One of my all time favourite tracks by any artist. It still give me goosebumps everytime I hear it. For me this was Elvis best recording period. Thanks for posting it
