In love with the art of film and animation Joi attended the Art Institute of Vancouver in hopes of becoming an animator. But on a work break from her studies she had acquired an injury to both arms that the Dr. confirmed would have long term effects and would take a lifetime to fully heal. The use of her arms was completely lost for 6 months. After attending frequent physio therapy she was able to function with the use of 2 supportive braces and as time and therapy continued she was capable of doing regular chores and household activities again. She was unable to do any art for 1 year and had to re-teach her arms and hands how to hold a pencil or paint brush. Unable to return to animation Joi decided to turn to painting, sketch art, and video bloging/vloging. She hopes that with more treatment and rest that she will be able to make a short 2D animation. Until then She continues to stay creative however she can.
