About this user
With the highly-anticipated upcoming release on January 12th, 2010 of his fifth solo CD, Quicksand, multi-instrumentalist Randy Kohrs has also arrived, once again, as a first-rate vocalist, songwriter and producer. Three Grammy nominations, including one for 2010, and an actual win in 2008 for producing, engineering, mixing, singing harmony, and playing on Americana icon Jim Lauderdales latest, The Bluegrass Diaries, solidified his standing as one of the strongest all-around musical forces coming up on the Nashville scene.
A #1 video on CMTPure for the single, Whos Goin With Me, from his previous CD, Old Photograph, proved that the mainstream country audience welcomes his progressive acoustic sound, too. An appearance on the Rachael Ray Show further introduced him to the mainstream audience. In May of 2008, he made his debut appearance as a solo artist on the Grand Ole Opry, and has since performed on the hallowed stage numerous times.
Kohrs, an Iowa native, has long been celebrated for his inventive, mood-setting work as a dobroist (thats him providing the dramatic framework on Dierks Bentleys No. 1 hit, What Was I Thinking.) To date, he has played on more than 500 albums, ranging from those by such legends as Dolly Parton, Hank Thompson and Jerry Reed to other current chart-toppers Little Big Town, Sara Evans, Alabama and The Wreckers. A 2009 ACM nomination for Top Specialty Instrumentalist resulted from this popularity. His touring career reads just as impressive, supporting artists such as Dolly Parton (a duet partner on his album Im Torn), Hank III, and John Cowan.
Its a lot of credits in a short time. But you can bet Randy Kohrs is just getting started.

That Bassist is Elio Giordano. Along with working in this configuration, Randy recorded his EP and plays in Elio's band some too. It's called Hank Sinatra. He is on tour with Raul Malo at the moment. And, the Bass is a King that was the feature of the 2007 NAAM LA show.
