How Far I Didn't Go - Stacey Terry - Original rainingge... - 391 views - 1 month ago
The lyrics for this song are taken from a poem I wrote in high school. My beloved English teacher, Mrs. Wesley, wrote that it sounded like a song.

A few years ago I was asked to come up with some original material for a little local show, so I finally tried to come up with some chords to go along with the words. This is the result! And actually, when I think now about the lyrics, I wonder about my teenage self writing these words because I think they've turned out quite true for me... living my life too afraid to take big chances sometimes. But it's also true that I'm not going to stop until I have something amazing to show for my life.

How Far I Didn't Go

By Stacey Terry March 2006

So much road behind me
A lifetime I have stayed
Walking along the shoulder
Never daring where it's paved
So many things I've never done
I guess I'll never know
Now I'm being held behind
by how far I didn't go

The dust has settled at my feet
The wind is but a sigh
I kick at stones that fall away
Indifferent where they lie
I never thought I'd be here
That life just might not owe
More to me than what I gave or
how far I didn't go

CHORUS:

The road ahead is empty
My eyes are full of tears
Still I walk along the shoulder
Weeping for wasted years
The sun is gone behind the clouds
Day dies as night grows
Leaves me crying for the moon
And how far I didn't go

Choices that I made in youth
Doors I would not open
Wishes lost, dreams forgot
Still I keep on hoping
I long to stop and rest awhile
But can't until I show
Something in my life besides
How far I didn't go

CHORUS:

The Rose of Allendale - Cover of Mary Black rainingge... - 195 views - 1 month ago
So here I am doing my best 'worst' Irish (I think) accent! :P

I'm a bit dubious about even associating this cover with Mary Black... man, I just listened again to her voice... and now I remember why I love this song so much.

I don't think I ever came across a consistent set of lyrics for this particular song, so my choices may be slightly different than ones you've heard. I'm interested in hearing what the story is behind the song. I remember reading once that the Rose of Allendale was believed to be the figurehead of a sailing ship, so that's the image I see when I try to sing this song.

Kiss Me Quick - Cover of Elvis Presley rainingge... - 220 views - 1 month ago
I'm not sure if this song is original to Elvis or not, but I heard this on an oldies radio station the other day on my way to a meeting and I was immediately swaying in my seat and humming it in my head all day long! So I found it here on Youtube and took a stab at it!

Once in a blue moon, I play with an old time fiddle/music band, and I'm always in need of some 'Latin' tunes. I think this has the right beat, though I'm not a dancer to know for sure. Maybe someone can tell me!

Raininggently's Music
About Me: I grew up on my dad playing both fiddle and guitar and singing old classic country songs, so music has always been a part of my life. I started out with piano lessons when I was a kid, but switched my passion to the guitar when I was a teen. That's when I really started trying to sing.

And as much as I enjoy playing and singing classic country music, you should see me get excited when I play rhythm to old time fiddle! I'm pretty modest about my abilities, but I'm big on enthusiasm!

With truth, love, power, and gratitude I become a better person each day! (Many thanks to Steve and Erin Pavlina!)
