About this user
Encyclopedic Mind: Compared to others my knowledge base is wide in scope. My brain is a sponge for interesting things: tell me what you did today and I will not retain a single word, tell me why the tsunami in 2004 was caused by a nuclear bomb test rather than an earthquake and I will soak up everything like a sponge. I am also talented in verbalizing things that others feel but can't put into words.Agnostic: I submit that whether a God, a force, or little green men exists or not is ultimately unknowable based on our earthbound three-dimensional Euclidean minds. Given that all the data indicates the universe is infinitely expanding, it would be naive to think we're alone in the universe. Therefore, if we can accept the possibility that life-form somewhere else is possible, without any empirical evidence, how can we rule out the possibility that a god may exist? As an agnostic, I am not confined to make huge leaps of faith to preserve an theist or atheist stance. Agnostic affords me pure objectivity for assessing this and, therefore, absolute freedom.
INTJ: After taking the Myers-Briggs personality test a few times, I've consistently scored INTJ with strong preferences especially on the intuition and thinking components. I'll do a video on this eventually.
Rational Mastermind: In everything I put my mind to I seek to establish mastery of the object of obsession. More generally, I accel in contingent planning: I rationalize a purpose for everything (even things people would consider silly). Even with emotions, I cannot empathize with another without understanding the reason for their feeling a particular way. In short, every piece of information that sifts through the mill of my intellect gets assigned a definitive value in my mind and is placed in order of priority. Then I systematically follow through with the practical application of the given plan. This has led some to believe I am an alexithymiac - althout I myself cannot say for certain.
Marxist Analyst: In politics, a central aim of most(if not all)analysts is to determine where power resides. Does power reside in individuals or is it embedded in the structure of the system. Under the Marxist lens, I submit that power is highly stratified and determined by socio-economic well-being. Moreover, in a capitalist system there is an inherent antithesis between capital and labour. That is the essence.
Democrat: In this context I do not mean that I vote democrat (incidentally, I'm not even American), but that I am a proponent of substantive democracy (which differs from liberal democracy). The ultimate measure of the success of a democracy should not be its procedures (like in a liberal democracy) but its outcome. To this end a good democracy is one that has high levels of economic equality, high levels of participation, and high levels of accountability. On the ground, it looks something like Sweden.
Existentialist: I submit that the existence of a phenomena comes before its essence. I do not believe in fate. Why would a person push for things in life if they are merely a puppet of fate? It is irrational: it's better to live life on the assumption that one is in control of one's life.
Free Thinker: I try as much as possible to predicate my theses and beliefs on reason and empirical data. Incidentally, I am a strong rationalist and this naturally conflicts with traditional empiricists. An empiricist will show me data and say "see" that explains event X. Even with empirical proof, I will not accept it until I have a reason or a motive which is radically different. That said, I pride myself on being the materialization of Nietzsche's superman. To this end, I am in a perpertual state of overcoming myself.
Words people have used throughout my life to describe me: intense, out-going, self-absorbed, passionate, bipolar (in rare cases), philosophical, intelligent, haughty, good-natured, verbose, polite, interesting, insightful, curious, etc.
I'm going to law school next year and plan to be a trial lawyer (eventually spending most of my days in the court). I may try to run for Prime Minister when I'm older. We'll see.
