the quranic verse in the famous hadith qudsi where Allah through the mouth of His Messenger states why they shall have no fear nor sorrow
"Allah said, 'I will declare war against him who shows hostility to a pious worshipper (walî) of Mine. And the most beloved things with which My slave comes nearer to Me, is what I have enjoined frD upon him
and My slave keeps on coming closer to Me through performing nawâfil (praying or doing extra deeds besides what is obligatory till I love him, so I become his sense of hearing with which he hears, and his sense of sight with which he sees, and his hand with which he grips, and his leg with which he walks; and if he asks Me, I will give him,
and if he asks My protection Refuge, I will protect him; (i.e. give him My Refuge) and I do not hesitate to do anything as I hesitate to take the soul of the believer, for he hates death, and I hate to disappoint him."

The faithful is he who seeks lawful living, and is not a fatalist. If succeeds in getting a job, he shall get lawful living and compensation for search of a living. . . . . . . Tasawwuf is a branch of islamic knowledge which focuses on the spiritual development of the muslim.
Allah sent his final messenger, Prophet Muhammad SAW, as a source of knowledge for the entire ummah. the Prophet SAW was the fountain of Quran, Hadith, Tafsir, Rhetoric, Fiqh and so on. After the Prophet SAW the sahabas and the scholars of this ummah carried and propagated each of these branches of knowledge. Because no one person can attain the perfection of the Prophet SAW, who single handedly with help of ALLAH assumed all of these roles, various branches of the islamic sciences developed. for example, Imam Abu Hanifah preserved the science of fiqh and after him thousands of scholars continued in his footsteps. Hence these scholars preserved the fiqh, hadith preserved the words, tajweed preserved the recitation and arabic grammar perserved the language of our holy beloved Prophet SAW.
Along these lines, the Prophet SAW was the model of spirituality for the world. His god consciousness, deep spirituality, act of worship, and love for ALLAH SBT were preserved and propagated be an islamic science called Tasawwuf. The aim of the scholars of this science was purification of the heart, and development of consciousness of ALLAH SBT through the submission to the shariah and sunnah.
HOW IS TASAWWUF RELATED TO SUFISM?
Studying the life of the prophet SAW, the scholars who propagated the science of tasawwuf understood that a requisite for approaching ALLAH SBT was abandonment of the common pursuits of the world. They often wore wool because of its simplicity and low cost. In Arabic the word wool is suf and thus, those who wore it became known as the sufis. Another possible derivation of the word comes from the root word safa, which means "to clean." Because the scholars of Tasawwuf focused on cleansing the heart and the soul, they later became known as the sufis.

Teachings by the Late Saudi Arabian Sunni Islamic Scholar Shaykh as-Sayyid Muhammad ibn `Alawi al-Maliki of Mecca al-MukarramahToday some people claim to teach us Tawhid. We have to remember that there are two types of Tawhid - the true Tawhid, and the false tawhid. We have to beware of the false tawhid, which is the tawhid of Iblis, as it started with him.Allah, subhanaHu wa Ta`ala, ordered Iblis (Shaytan) to Sujud (prostrate) before Nabi Adam, `alayhi-s-salam, out of veneration. Iblis responded that he only venerates Allah, subhanaHu wa Ta`ala, and nobody else. What is Iblis's fate? Hell. The cursed Iblis was the first 'Aalim' who thought that venerating a friend of Allah, subhanaHu wa Ta`ala, is against Tawhid. So those who do not want us to honour the people who Allah, subhanaHu wa Ta`ala, has honoured by making them His Awliya, are like Iblis - claiming to honour Allah, subhanaHu wa Ta`ala, exclusively, and not honouring the friends of Allah, subhanahuwa Ta`ala. The Malaika (Angels) knew that true belief in Allah, subhanaHu wa Ta`ala, means loving, respecting, and venerating all those close to him, so they bowed to Adam (a.s), and were blessed. It is ironic that the Mala'ika (Angels) made Sajdah to Nabi Adam, `alayhi-s-salam, but some people today, have a problem with Honouring Nabi Muhammad, sall-Allahu `alayhi wa sallam, and don't want to stand up for his honour. However, they will stand up to drink Zamzam water, in respect of it and because it is Sunnah to drink Zamzam standing and drink all other water sitting. They honour Zamzam, water that come from the Blessed feet of Nabi Ismail, `alayhi-s-salam, but refuse to honour the greatest of all Prophets. This becomes even more ironic when we read in Sahih al-Bukhari (Kitab al-Jana'iz) that the Nabi, sall-Allahu `alayhi wa sallam, and His Sahabah would even stand up in respect for a Jewish man's funeral procession!!!A Jewish man's Janazah can be honoured but the Beloved Nabi of Allah, sall-Allahu `alayhi wa sallam, cannot be Honoured because it is bid'ah to stand up!!! The Tawhid of Islam insists that we honour all those whom Allah, subhanaHu wa Ta`ala, has honoured, the Anbiya, Siddiqin, Shuhada and Salihin, all the honourable Prophets and Friends of Allah, subhanaHu wa Ta`ala.
