About this user
Sydney artist Red Ghost (aka Rosa Agostino) spawns a raw, dark and brooding sound that weaves together her influences of blues, folk, jazz and rock. Many have compared her sound and style to that of PJ Harvey, Cat Power, Mazzy Star and Fiona Apple.
Originally recording in her bedroom through a built-in microphone on her computer, Red Ghost began uploading her original compositions and covers onto MySpace.com and was sought out by various artists and bands, asking for her live support and collaborations. Collaborations include work with electronic artist from Amsterdam Clemm, and most recently featured on the Muph & Plutonic track Lost Ones, on their 2007 release Silence the Sirens.
Red Ghost was found by Sydney based indie label, Soviet Records, offering to record and release her debut EP, which was released on the 3rd March 2007 worldwide. The EP, which was recorded over 4 days, features her on all instruments - guitars, piano, hammond, drums, bass, vocals and more - to genuinely express her haunting, yet somewhat familiar words, which emerge and allow her melodies to transcend.
Although the conception of Red Ghost was only in December of 2005, she is not a stranger to the music scene. Classically trained on piano, she became a self taught guitarist, bassist and drummer, among other instruments, writing from the age of 12. She started her career as a solo artist at 17 and was then lead guitarist for several Sydney bands leading up to the present day, developing her own sound and style over the 10 years. It was during November 2005 she thought it high time to leave the band life behind her and, again, set out like a lone wolf into the night.
