@TheNeiraaa well, not for no reason. But I think if there was even the tiniest reason to do it, Sherlock would happily compliment himself in the middle of anywhere.

And to him, John being around sometimes seems to be a reason :)

Did it never occour to anyone that this very nice nickname might be just a metapher for something else he's never done?

I mean, "virgin" in its original meaning might be just a little bit too flat and easy for Jim Moriarty, seeing that almost everything he said turned out to have a deeper meaning.

nice idea, but i don't think it's that. Because HIS mind works incredibly fast, but think of how much time it would have taken him to organise all that...the only one who can keep up with him are John and Irene, who are defenitely not involved. He didn't have that much time.
