The movie didn't follow the book in many ways. But it was ok . The remark Ellen made in the book when she was certain the signal wasn't local :

"In her mind she thought she could hear one joyous shout amidst a clamor of other voices."

I''ve a copy of the movie but its the same quality. It must have some 'charm particle' affect on some people, I love it too. There was a movie serial with the same name, it also had an enduring effect on me. Thanks for sharing, maybe some one has a good copy and will upload it?
