Queer Lisboa Film Festival takes place in Lisbon, Portugal, every year in September, during 9 days!
The Festival opened its doors in 1997 and is, today, Lisbon's longest running film festival and the only of its kind in Portugal. Our main purpose is that of screening and promoting Queer Film and supporting queer filmmakers, catering for the queer community and to audiences in general.
The Festival comprises three Competition Sections: Best Feature Film (Fiction), Best Documentary (Feature Length), and Best Short Film - Audience Award.
Other Festival Sections are Queer Art, dedicated both to experimental film and documentaries on queer artists; and Queer Pop, on the intersection of music and queer culture.
Every year the Festival organizes other film sections such as an Out of Competition Panorama, and special screenings on a specific theme, filmmaker or country.
Our goal is that of screening the most relevant filmmaking produced in the same and previous year of the event; so as organizing retrospectives which allow a reading on queer culture in general and queer cinema in particular, through the above mentioned film sections and special screenings.

Queer Lisboa is a privileged setting for queer filmmakers to screen their works and for our audience to have contact with high quality filmmaking, groundbreaking languages in queer culture, and to meet queer filmmakers and artists from all around the world.
Queer Lisboa also organizes the Queer Market, held during the Festival. Here, you can browse and purchase gay and lesbian themed literature, published in Portuguese, so as Portuguese releases of queer themed films on DVD.

Queer Lisboa 13 will take place between the 18th and the 26th September, at the Cinema São Jorge, in downtown Lisbon!
