ok sorry most bugs were 7.5 btdc. The short shaft distributors used in 1960s bugs had 28 max degres of advance. The person in this video is timing his distributor with too much advance because hes not timing the pulley mark with the SPLIT in the case halves!!!!

take the belt off and run it. Noise should go away. find out whats wrong with your generator/belt/fan. you can see the belt jump when the noise is present.

Take off the belt and see if the rattling goes away. Also, that blower housing hose on the right hand side is missing, that will overheat your motor, as valuable cooling air pressure is lost, and your right side heat exchanger is overheating due to no cooling air.
