Pump Aid is one of the UK's leading water and sanitation charites. We work directly with communities in Malawi and Zimbabwe to combat the global water and sanitation crisis.
About Me:
Using simple but effective technologies, Pump Aid has developed the Elephant Pump and Elephant Toilet. Each use locally available materials and can be easily maintained by poor rural communities without any assistance.
As well as providing clean drinking water, our pumps allow for irrigation meaning communities can grow crops to improve their diet or sell surplus crops to increase their income.
To deal with the issue of hygiene, a naturally occurring plant with antiseptic properties is grown outside each of our toilets. Users can simply pick a leaf to clean their hands after every visit.
Such innovative solutions mean that Pump Aid truely impact some of the most vulnerable communities in the world.
