This is a feature film telling the story of a lowly factory worker Rene who agreed to organize and lead a workers' union (under the NatDem line) after witnessing and experiencing retrenching and anti-union drive from his company.
Rene unbeknownst to him that he is being pawned by a leading NPA cadre who successfully indoctrinated and influenced him and his co-workers to launch a massive strike (supported by other KMU chapters) that will paralyze the company's operations.
Rene's shadowy Political Officer (PO) was played by veteran and multi-awarded actor Bembol Roco.
The strike claimed the lives of innocent workers (ironically, from the hands of combative fellow workers) including Rene.
The film accurately depicts the terroristic nature, anarchist tendency, violent agitations, and gross manipulation of situations of the CPP-NPA-NDF to launch public outrage, economic sabotage, and thus breed grounds favorable for armed revolution.
The film also shows the ubiquitous urban operations of a cadre: to agitate, organize, and mobilize. Interestingly, it also shows the murderous liquidation hit squads of the NPA known as Special Partisan Armed Revolutionary Unit or SPARUs.

Huwad na Pangarap (CPP-NPA purges movie)
*** Update Oct 28, 2010 ***: English subtitles are available for all seven (7) parts. Click "CC" button to disable.
"Huwad na Pangarap" is a full-length feature film accurately depicting the life of a simple father-peasant turned guerrilla fighter, Ka Aries Borromeo, who only wished the best for his family joined the Communist Revolution and after a time became a brutal victim himself of the infamous and perfidious CPP-NPA-NDF purges (e.g. Kampanyang Ahos and Operation Missing Link) of the 1980's, just before the notorious Second Great Rectification Movement).
Ka Aries was deceived by the CPP-NPA-NDF. It destroyed not only his family (the NPAs killed his father, separated him from his most loved daughter, took away his wife) but mercilessly murdered him too for his suspected "contra-revolutionary" activities.
This is based on a true-to-life story. The film features themes very familiar to those who underwent "Educational Discussions (EDs)" or has a clear grasp of basic CPP core doctrines. The film is produced by the Sinagtala Creative Group and stars the multi-awarded Filipino stage/movie actor Ronnie Lazaro for the lead role.
For another accurate study about documented CPP-NPA-NDF atrocities one may want to read Robert Francis Garcia's monumental opus, "To Suffer Thy Comrade."
Dedicated to the victims of CPP-NPA-NDF's senseless killings.

Ex-Red castigates NPA's deceitful promises
Ka Liway, as she was formerly known in the Quezon mountains during the 80's, shares her regretful and painful history with the murderous CPP-NPA. The NPAs knocked on their door and recruited her whole family offering astronomical promises. Being naive then, the underaged Ka Liway joined the revolution. After 6 years of hardship with the NPA, she and her husband soon found out that all NPA claims are fallacious, deceitful, and empty. Enlightened, they gave up arms and pursued a peaceful life. Starting a new life means a crime to the CPP-NPA leadership. The NPA murdered her husband right in front of her in cold blood. Her first-born son barely survived the shooting.
Recollected and having gained a new confidence, the courageous Ka Liway joined the Army. She actively travels to rural communities and shares her experiences, dispelling the masses from NPA devious influences. She hopes that people learn from her real life experience, a living witness of NPA atrocities, and avoid the same mistake she had done in the past.
This is an authentic educational discussion from a former rebel, now reformed, serving her country and her people.
English subtitles are available.
