Whatever the talents of the rest of the band, what drives the music forward is the trumpet. Just listen to Monty Sunshine's band (and Monty was a sublime artist) with and without Colyer.

Much as I admire Johan Blohm from his past work, this is orchestral boogie woogie, the kind Albert Ammons played after he formed his band and went commercial. I wish Johan all the best, but give me his two-handed boogies any day.

I think that one of the under-appreciated hallmarks of Papa Bue was the relentless driving bass and percussion: Morgens Seiderlin and drummer Lindscouw. It's about time they were recognized.
