I have to agree with Fishaman. His voice wasn't what it used to be. From 1974 on his voice changed and to me only on rare occasions he managed to sing really good. He could handle songs like Hurt with almost singing in kind of a opera style. But the subtleness in his voice was gone.

I had the same problem. I think i solved it by first instelling dosbox and installed THE game in dos.Did you check THE sound configuration in setup of THE game?
