After all the hype and build-up, the movie was (for reasons of internal politics) only shown at movie theatres for one week, and then sank unsurprisingly into obscurity. Most people never had a chance to see it until it came out on VHS. Very strange.

Oh....and they also reported a so-called "disturbing admission" from Stagg, which was (if you could be bothered to read to the botton of the page to find out what the headline was actually referring to) that he felt no more sorrow for Rachel Nickell than he did for any other murder victim.

Glad to see that someone else really likes this movie. It got very unfairly dissed when it first came out, and since then there's been a kind of "received wisdom" to the effect that it's rubbish. Well I'm glad to see that orthodoxy being challenged! It's a wonderful movie - not particularly true...
