Exploit Chris for his weaknesses? You were being scarcastic right? All Mike did was ban Chris from his store because he was hurting business. That's it. If anything, I've noticed that the people who seem most terrified of some kind of Orwellian New World Order are Republicans and self-described Conservatives, where nationalism is a virtue and any bids to work toward a less divided Earth must be seeking dystopian, fascistic hellscape—and then there's simply the cowboys.

Of course, there's an element of this in the Left, as well, where the agnostic fallacy has a field day and anarchism finds most of its recruits.

Either way, I think it's unflatteringly tribal to want to remain divided on any grounds that naturally converge over time, genetic or memetic.

This isn't to say that I think a one-world government would be a good thing if it arose tomorrow afternoon, but I don't see how any other political map a desirable goal for a species that will have to reach a certain level of concord if it is going to successfully expand—which is bound to produce much more real divisions, anyway, for a long time.

I don't see the contradiction, so perhaps there is something I'm missing rather than you.
