PrettyvacanT Dublin repurposes vacant Dublin properties as temporary exhibition spaces as artists.
Unused & Unloved was a group exhibition examining concepts of neglect, desertion, abandonment or disuse.
O'Donoghue's photographs catalogued the ultimate in abandoned places -- Chernobyl -- whilst Quinn's images examined the vast discarded vortex of plastic in the Pacific Ocean, commenting on our disposable society and the wider issue of the global environment.
Unused & Unloved also included interventions by PrettyvacanT Dublin: A gallery activated through Smartphone QR Codes helps populate empty space by merging it into virtual space. Elsewhere, the 'Mapping Vacant Space' project encouraged people to catalogue and geo-tag empty properties in Ireland.
The artists were: Lily Cahill | Helen Caird | Kieran O'Donoghue | Blaithin Quinn | Karoline Reichardt | Steve Ryan | Becky Sheldon | John J Twomey
Unused & Unloved took place at Fumbally Court, Fumbally Lane, D8 from 29th October until 11th November
Unused and Unloved was in association with Fumbally Exchange and was part of Innovation Dublin 2011, which took place across Dublin from 17th October to 18th November. The festival demonstrated Dublin's capacity to inspire, interact and innovate. Unused & Unloved was featured in TheJournal.ie , Le Cool and on the Dave Fanning Show.

SeeChange is a project conceived for PhotoIreland Festival 2011 by PrettyvacanT Dublin.
SeeChange is a constellation of images created through the exchange and visual conversation between a collective of photographers.
SeeChange began earlier in the year with each photographer submitting one 'start' photo to an online forum.
In response each photographer took an image from this photographic pool to inspire their own, new image.
These images, in turn, were fed back into the existing pool, acting as another stimulus and encouraging further responses.
More images were created, triggering more group responses, splintering into more images.
Inspiration and responses happened along multiple vectors, and through multiple touchpoints creating a constellation of images.
Over time, the collective has built up a multi-part visual conversation, embodying the spirit of Collaborative Change.
The SeeChange exhibition is the result of that conversation.
Photographers: Lucienne Brennan | Sanna Fisher-Payne | Rosaria Foscisi | Karen Forrester | Louise Marlborough | Agnese Sanvito
SeeChange is curated by Louise Marlborough, Director of PrettyvacanT Dublin.
SeeChange runs 9 - 29 July at The Complex, Smithfield, open daily 12 - 6pm.

PrettyvacanT Dublin unleashes Permission To Land by street artist Litmus.
Dublin's empty and abandoned properties are a testament to the greed of the boom years.
Yet still, the development continues and we see planning applications to continue building and developing.
Permission To Land is street artist Litmus's attempt to parody the still-present climate for development, and satirise the boom years that produced this wave of dormant space.
Each of the five pieces comprise a fake planning application and accompanying artists' impression for a fantastical, amazingly wasteful construction that no one in their right minds would build.
A dry-ski slope on Redmond's Hill
A moving pedestrian walkway on O'Connell Street,
A multi-million euro Air Zeppelin port on Earlsford Terrace,
A rollercoaster at Boland's Mill,
A Mt Rushmore-style commemorative statue at Smithfield featuring Fianna Fail Taoiseachs.
The planning applications and artists' impressions were placed on those very key locations overnight.
Litmus forces to ask us the question: how much development can we tolerate, and hopes passers-by may be fooled into thinking the applications real.
PrettyvacanT Dublin worked with Litmus to select the abandoned locations, ran a Twitter teaser campaign, and documented the artwork.
