About this user
Presidio Performing Arts Foundation (PPAF) is a non-profit public benefit corporation and Presidio Dance Theatre is one of its programs. Co-founded in 1997 by Judy Bretschneider, the late Robert C. Leefeldt and Nancy Johnson who served as officers on the first board of directors. PPAF received its 501(c) (3) status in January 1998 as a non-profit, public benefit corporation. As one of the Presidio's early arrivals, PPAF has had a proud presence at the park and is considered a premiere cultural institution, earning widespread admiration and numerous awards for the impressive quality of its artistic endeavours.
PPAF is an umbrella organization, it creates and presents artistic and international cultural programming, including an array of performances, annual dance festival, dynamic cultural exchanges, and exhibition in the unique setting of America's newest urban National Park, the Presidio of San Francisco. Millions of people visit the Presidio each year and nearly a quarter of a million have already enjoyed performances, special events, and exhibitions these past years. The cultural community in the Presidio continues to add prestigious new global enterprises such as George Lucas/Lucasfilm, Ltd; the Doris and Donald Fisher Museum, SF Film Center and Diane Disney Miller's Walt Disney Family Museum. Our Presidio neighbors will join us in presenting programs to serve the mission of the Presidio Trust, so it is anticipated that the numbers of visitors to the park will significantly increase. The Presidio Trust is the federally appointed governing body for the national park. They hold the exclusive position of being selected to assist in fulfilling the Congressional mandate for "implementing interpretive programs and activities at the Presidio, while building on rich ethnic traditions that exist in the San Francisco Bay Area". PPAF's well-matched mission is to preserve, enhance and present dance, music, and theater traditions in their historical context with an international perspective.
