Spanish Film Club (SFC) promotes and facilitates the organization of Spanish and Latin American Film Festivals at universities in North America. Featuring first-time filmmakers and established masters alike, SFC offers grants to help universities to bring the very best in contemporary Spanish and Latin American cinema to campuses across North America.
SHORTMETRAJE 2011
ShortMetraje, has been held nine years ago and throughout these nine years, the American public have been able to see almost 100 works of Spanish short film, very different kinds, and with a variety of formats and styles. Shortmetraje celebrates one more time a defiant group of filmmakers that not only reflected the frustration of their generation and their environment, but also challenge them. With an unique perspective they create a new narrative in Spanish cinema. Here we go one more time!
CLANDESTI: FORBIDDEN CATALAN CINEMA UNDER FRANCO
This is the story of a generation of independent filmmakers whose innate unwillingness to conform forced them to produce, distribute, and exhibit radical films in Catalonia during Francos dictatorship. Shooting under the pretense of amateur filmmaking, they hid within crowds of protesters, producing works that were often highly creative and even experimental.
