more
The Psychedelic Experience: A Manual Based on The Tibetan Book of the Dead (commonly referred to as The Psychedelic Experience) is an instruction manual intended for use during sessions involving psychedelic drugs.
This version of Tibetan Book of the Dead was authored by Timothy Leary, Ralph Metzner and Richard Alpert, all of whom took part in experiments investigating the therapeutic and religious possibilities of drugs such as mescaline, psilocybin and LSD. The book is dedicated to Aldous Huxley and includes a short introductory citation from Huxley's book The Doors of Perception.
Part of this text was used by the Beatles in the song Tomorrow Never Knows. http://en.wikiped...

A couple of years ago I recorded a cover of Tempting Time. I had it on YouTube for awhile but inevitably took it down - I just wasn't very happy with my performance and felt that I could have done it better. Since then I've gotten a lot of requests to put it back up so I finally decided to redo it.
It felt good recording this song again. I relearned a lot of it left lead and I tried not to leave out any details. For the most part, I'm happy with how it turned out. In addition to this I also covered a newer AAL song off of "Weightless" called 'Do Not Go Gently' ( to view please click here - http://www.youtub... ).
This is also the first video (along with 'Do Not Go Gently') I've uploaded with a completely natural kick drum. I'll continue to trigger my bass drum in the future for songs with intricate foot parts and fast double bass, but for songs like this I much prefer the natural sound. I used an AKG D112.
You may also notice that my setup is a bit different. I decided to rock my 'gooood buddaaaay' Travis Orbin's setup for these covers. After transcribing these songs I realized that I hadn't used my high toms for any fills so there was no need for them to be in the setup. Additionally, both songs call for a stack, and at no point is there a splash or more than one china being used. I also wanted to perform with the stack on my non-dominant side, so Trav's setup seemed rather appropriate. I believe the only difference is that there is no ride cymbal - again, neither tune called for one so I removed it temporarily.
Please note that this is in no way going to be my permanent drum setup. I still prefer my 'normal' setup with the additional high toms and cymbals. I'll consider this setup a little shout out to my broski!
I used all Evans heads - the snare is an Evans Hybrid Grey, toms are Clear G2's, and the kick is an EMAD. I think these are actually some of the best drum tones we've ever gotten. As always, special thanks to Greg Macklin for mixing. It's a pretty 'drum heavy' mix, but I wanted to be sure that none of the album drum sounds were present. I had Greg filter the album audio which extracts most of the drum sounds and then mix it very low.
Lastly, the stack cymbal is comprised of my 18" MB20 Rock China (bottom) and my 12" Generation-X Filter China (top).
Tempo starts at 110 BPM and switches to 170 BPM mid way through (measure 38 in transcription)
