The National Voice of Public Child Welfare

Protecting children from abuse and neglect is the primary work of public child welfare. To be accountable and hold the highest standard of performance, public child welfare must consistently and uniformly apply practices, strengthen infrastructure and monitor performance in order to achieve positive outcomes. In response to this need, the field has developed guidance to define what we do, how we do it and how we must hold ourselves accountable.

The guidance represents a set of markers that is based on a solid body of knowledge which enables the field to examine its performance in fourteen critical areas and provides a roadmap from which agencies can maximize their performance, innovate and change.
