If you just want to read the Kindle Touch is better as the E-ink is a lot easier on the eyes than a back-lit LCD for reading. If you want a portable multimedia device that functions as a low-end tablet get the Fire.

I really don't get this commercial or anyone that compares a Kindle Fire with IPad. Both products are so different from one another in terms of size, price, software, hardware etc that any comparisons are useless. It's like comparing a $300 netbook with a $800 laptop.
