he plays this as a romance and not a virtuosic piece. what class. he really is a musician, not merely a violinist. thanks to all who post videos of Mr. Shtern!!

he plays so sincerely. simply in technical passages. he lets the music shine through rather than forcing his idea on the music. i'm very grateful for the beauty of Mr. Shtern's playing and for uploads of his rare craft, whether video or audio. thank you! :)

my favorite recording is by leonid kogan. for the warm, lovely romantic tone...check out oistrakh's. it leaves nothing to be desired.
