I have a 530i and that gives average 21 mpg . On a good run sitting at 65 mph I've had it reading 42 mpg and I drive like a undertaker . These cars can be thirsty but keep the revs low there not bad on fuel considering there size and weight and levels of luxury they provide . Mine is fully loaded...

Misfire from the sound of it and rough idle . Does it do it all time or intermittent ? Always start simple .

Is vanos rattle happen between 1500 rpm and 2000 rpm . For very short time ? When car is driven on road . ? And if you rev engine when idle you hear the metallic rattle for very short time at same revs ?

Looks like you need a new motor . Will be the quickest solution . Or it's a worn bush inside the motor causing it to over rev ( if that makes sence ?)

There is a auto factors called . HALFORDS . in the uk . You can get direct replacement blades for these cars . I just got a new set today . They are there own brand . And there very good . There silent and remove all water and moisture . And take around 5 minutes to fit .
