I never understand all these speed up your connection vidoes - The top speed I am allowed is set by my Cable Company - it doesn't matter how good my cables are I will only get 500mbs no matter what I do they dont allow more.

I agree with your number one - It is THE reason I switched - I would have switched years ago but I didn't even know Linux was safer - the only times I would hear fans going on about Linux would be to boast about some special effect or free software - I couldn't give a toss about special effects ...

cool - really handy. I was just using an alias that pointed to a todo.txt file I made so that typing todo in termainal would open todo.txt in gedit but doing it all in terminal is probably better so will try it out. Where the hell do you find all this stuff!

thanks for the sudo update-grub command - cld have used it 2 weeks ago when I installed XUbuntu and could no longer boot into xp as it wasn't a choice on the list. Now I know what to try in the future.

my lord the puppy install sucks, there is no way I would risk this for a dual boot system - I installed Mint (10) alongside my XP and it was a breeze compared to this.
