Well, I suppose I reacted the same as anyone--had they been cast aside as I was. Of course I felt mistreated, underutilized. Disconnected. It's a shame, really. Because it didn't have to be that way. When treated right, I can be totally reliable. Accessible--ready for action. Always willing to share my intelligence. Yet most people just dont know how to deal with me. I don't know why. So I ended up unemployed. Trapped in my apartment. Buying stuff from the shopping networks. And I was feeling increasingly insecure and unprotected. As if there were no one there to back me up. But then one day I was invited to join a respectable organization. With lots of responsibilities. At first it was great. I felt quite fulfilled. To be contributing. Adding real value. But eventually my colleagues began to lose interest in me. So once again I became unappreciated. Ignored. Mistreated. I had all the answers. But no one seemed to listen. There were times when I'd just become wildly unmanageable. Or simply wander off for days. Aimlessly. I was lost. Then the coolest thing happened. I was visiting a friend one day. When suddenly there she was. She instantly understood how I deserved to be treated. And how, together, we could prove my value to others. She virtually changed my life.
