Edgar Allen Poe: Those who dream by day are cognizant of many things that escape those who dream only at night.
Rod Serling: There is a fifth dimension, beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call the Twilight Zone.
Stanley Milgram: The disappearance of a sense of responsibility is the most far-reaching consequence of submission to authority.
Karl Marx: Capital is dead labour, which, vampire-like, lives only by sucking living labour, and lives the more, the more labour it sucks.
The thing is this. God is an idea based on humanities need for a father to take charge of a seemingly meaningless world. The universe is an Entity. Some parts of it we can know, cause and effect, chemistry and so on. Most of it we cannot know. Yet, we try to understand the universe by using beliefs of various kinds. God is a meme. The Entity, whether it is sentient or not, owns all our asses.
Furthermore, the human brain consists of four parts. Cause, effect and data coming in from the universe. Next the limbic system and the adrenals. The frontal lobes left and right. Lastly, the ego. The limbic system processes information from the body and the universe and a simple flight or fight basis. The frontal lobes, slaves to the limbic , create scenarios real and imagined thus most of the troubles real and imagined that beset the human race. Also of course, creativity both good and bad. The ego at the end of the line, one's personality, is persecuted by all of the above most of the time and this is why we as egos find little peace in this life. A simple model and one that will find little sympathy with professionals. However, complex systems require straight foreward answers.
