My vote's on the e835, and this is coming from a big Shure mic fan. Best clarity and anti-pop of the lot. Listen to the difference especially on the "whoop her" lines. The SM57's the worst, though perhaps with a wind shield or off-axis technique could improve. In order of preference:

I disagree that this sounds worse than the external mic. Listen to the Anthem's definition and note clarity on all six strings. The external mic makes the low end sound like mush. Definitely looking into purchasing one of these.

Tough call. Overall I prefer the Flip for truer color. Generally, I see a bit more cyan in the Flip images and more yellow in the Kodak. (see 5:45 fleshtones, red brick, grass, etc), though when cameras pan to sky the Flip's more washed out muted with more yellow/less detail in it?! Strange. But ...

I listened through my headphones. The difference is drastic, and I'm not sure why people aren't hearing it (Bad sound systems at home?). One of the worst demos I've heard of a D18. Sounds tinny and thin. Doesn't do justice to the guitar at all.

Both great guitars. I listened through headphones. The Martin is clearly brighter, but I prefer the J45 especially in your fingerstyle comparison. Better emphasis on the mids and better note definition.

Agree with comment below. Martins are the quintessential flatpicking/bluegrass guitar, IMO. But damn if it isn't the tone of a Gibson Hummingbird or J45 that grabs me every time I hear it on a classic rock record. Something about that quiet mellow tone that just sounds more intimate to me.
