Yes he probably was the instigator of Glam rock, but this doesn't have much value as you could also argue that Bill Haley was the instigator of rock n roll, but nobody with any sense would say that he was more influential than Elvis would they?

Great songs. It's hard trying to pick 30 of the best as there will always be arguments about what should be on the list & what should be left out..HOWEVER.. there are I think three glaring omissions here namely:-

1. Don't Fear The Reaper - BLUE OYSTER CULT

2. Hocus Pocus - FOCUS

3. Werewolves ...

Absolute nonsense. Second rate songwriting, sung by a second rate singer.

I also remember listening to my transistor radio in the bedroom when I should have been asleep, I think radio Luxembourg was where I first heard Virginia Plain (around early '72 I think). Great days!

This song is a classic example of one of those 'classic' records which, in the cold light of day doesn't stand up to the hype attributed to it. Sure, it's a pretty good record but all the hype about it being cheated out of the number one slot?...get over it. Many far better records than this neve...
