Everybody must be young that comments on this song. Yes it's Pettyish, but it also sounds like one of Tom's heroes Roger McGuinn. This is a very good song.

Put the killer sax here with Sam Cooke's original version and you'd really have something.

Not a fan of all his stuff, but I've always loved this song. Such a pure sound then and now.

@stjimmy3592 I had my 88 yr old mother with me and we were able to sit down on the field level. To look up and see all those graduates in light blue was really something. I'm still singing the song.

Very nice version- with a rhythm track straight out of "Secret Agent Man". Too many good memories of Pat's original make me still favor it though.

@judahprince I think it's both Ammon and Bill on this song. For example at the beginning of the song Ammon sings "May I have your love, may I be your boy". Then Bill follows with "May I speak with you, may I bring you joy".

This is my favorite song by them. They played at my college and I remember Gates introducing their "new" song- The Diary. Back then some people drew lines between this music and that of Hendrix, Led Zep, etc. I always thought a person with good tastes in music could like both. I know I did. ...

It's not the easiest song to do live as it is, much less with all the screaming. Very good live performance of one of my all time fav Beatles tunes. Steve
