ABOUT HIPPY:

Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY) is a parent involvement, school readiness program that helps parents prepare their three, four, and five year old children for success in school and beyond. The parent is provided with a set of carefully developed curriculum, books and materials designed to strengthen their childrens cognitive skills, early literacy skills, social/emotional and physical development, letter recognition, writing and drawing, listening and talking, reading, following directions and much more. We empower our parents and guardians to be their childs first teacher. We supply our families with FREE weekly activities, supplies, books, and we role play each activity with our parents to help prepare them to work with their child.

R'Club Child Care, Inc. is the administrative agency for Pinellas County HIPPY. R'Club Child Care, Inc. is the largest provider of child care services in Pinellas County, Florida. As a not-for-profit organization that has been providing early childhood education programs, before and after school programs for school age children, and youth development services since 1976.

HIPPY Mission Statement:

HIPPY programs empower parents as primary educators of their children in the home and foster parent involvement in school and community life to maximize the chances of successful early school experiences.

HIPPY helps parents empower themselves as their childrens first teacher by giving them the tools, skills and confidence they need to work with their children in the home. The program was designed to bring families, organizations and communities together.

HIPPY is an international program that started in Israel in 1969 as a research and demonstration project. It has since spread to other countries. Germany, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, and Canada along with Israel and the United States now comprise HIPPY International. The HIPPY program came to the United States in 1984.

The Pinellas County HIPPY program was established in 2007 with funds from JWB and USF. The program was staffed with 4 full-time employees, serving 75 families. In 2008 the program expanded, currently the program is staffed with 11 dedicated full-time employees serving 200 families.

HIPPY Group meetings are every 3rd Saturday of the month.

Eligibility Requirements: Have a three or four year old child, Pinellas County Resident.
