Reason at 0:55 Nevada air racing crash 2011.

The plane, flown by a 74-year-old veteran Hollywood stunt pilot, then slammed into the tarmac in front of VIP box seats and blew to pieces The pilo...

The stock P-51 was only stressed for 8 Gs. Greater than 12Gs would rip the wings off. In 1998 a P-51 lost a left elevator trim tab and pitched up into a 10G climb temporarily blacking out the pilot who later landed the plane safely. In the most recent crash, it looks like there was a similar hi...

Watch this and see why Martha Argerich is the greatest pianist in the world

    pianomanrsn01 pianomanrsn01 commented:

Martha rocks, but she is not the only super technician out there. Marc Andre Hamelin could easily handle this. I don't know if I would like his interpretation any better, but technically, it is well within his capabilities.

György Cziffra plays La Campanella (the 4:25 version)

I love this version, specially the speed up in the beginning of the coda

    pianomanrsn01 pianomanrsn01 commented:

Andras Schiff speaks of watching Cziffra play a piece with which Schiff was familiar and remarked that Cziffra's hands and fingers were moving so fast that he could not actually tell what he was doing. I had not realized that Cziffra played this version live until we hear the audience at the end...

Fastest solar car in the world!

Nuna 3 won the world solar challenge 2005 in Australia. This is a short impression. Enjoy!

@TheNuclearWatermelon - Also no air conditioning or heating and no creature comforts of any type. Still 145km/hr is smoking in terms of speed. On a bright day and flat terrain you could cover perhaps 1,200 km without using a drop of petrol.

President Obama Meets with Prime Minister Netanyahu

President Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu speak to the press after meeting in the Oval Office. May 20, 2011.

    pianomanrsn01 pianomanrsn01 commented:

Weaning Israel from the US umbrella of protection and the $200 billion in subsides provided by US tax-payers is not throwing Israel under the bus. Obama's comments are long over-due. Israel has bullied and terrorized the Palestinians and those living in Gaza, the West Bank, and the Golan Heights...

Evgeny Kissin - Pictures - The Hut on Hen's Legs and The Bogatyr Gate

Yes, don't tell me, I know this performance has already been uploaded a million times in some shape or form, but every time I wanted to watch the l...

    pianomanrsn01 pianomanrsn01 commented:

He starts out way too fast and leaves behind much of the beauty of this piece. It was written to be played energetically, but the tempo need not be speeded up like this. This is one of the worst renditions I have heard from perhaps 50 that I have listened to. If you want to hear it played correct...

Cziffra - Liszt - La Campanella (rehearsing)

Cziffra - Liszt - La Campanella (rehearsing)

    pianomanrsn01 pianomanrsn01 commented:

Cziffra starts off at such a fast tempo (listen to his full recording on YouTube) that you can't believe that he will be able to actually advance the tempo as Liszt calls for, but somehow he is able to do that and stay in control. Cziffra has his detractors, but I am not one of them. He was born ...

    Liszt Totentanz

    Valentina Lisitsa

    pianomanrsn01 pianomanrsn01 commented:

I have only seen this piece performed live one time (Antonio Pompa-Baldi who did an excellent rendition but never recorded the piece). Valentina certainly does it justice. I would love to see Marc Andre Hamelin record this. He has an even bigger technique than Valentina and well suited to Liszt. ...

Liszt - La Campanella — Alice Sara Ott

I was not familiar with Ms. Ott. She is amazing. She has that Cziffra virtuoso quality about her playing

Franz Liszt - Un Sospiro (by Marc-André Hamelin)

The image quality is not very good, but this is one of the best performances of this piece I ever heard. Worth watching.

    pianomanrsn01 pianomanrsn01 commented:

Razor blade technical control - great way to describe it. I have never seen him struggle with any piece - even very difficult technical ones for which Liszt is famous or Godowsky's Chopin etudes. The criticism of Hamelin is that he plays with little emotion, but I just don't see that. I have seen...

    Liszt Mephisto Waltz No.3

    Giuseppe Andaloro, piano

    www.giuseppeandaloro.com

    pianomanrsn01 pianomanrsn01 commented:

Very well put although Liszt is making a comeback on the performing circuit, especially in Europe. This is my favorite piece of music. I often turn out the lights and just sit in the dark listening to it. It is not as technically flashy as MW #1, but it has a beauty about it that plucks all the e...

Leontyne Price sings "My Man's Gone Now"

From Gershwin's Porgy and Bess. Gala of Stars, with Beverly Sills and James Levine. 1980

    pianomanrsn01 pianomanrsn01 commented:

Instead of making this a rant on racial issues, why not celebrate this great performance from the classic American opera, Porgy and Bess. Price is simply stunning in this. Her RCA recording with William Warfield done in the 1950s is still the definitive version even though it is only the highligh...

Just one more note on Michael Weiner's qualifications. He spent most of his career concerned with plants, not people. Helen has been ru...

Marc Andre Hamelin Plays Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2

    pianomanrsn01 pianomanrsn01 commented:

I loved Cziffra's version of the HR2 until I listened to Hamelin. Hamelin is just spectacular in every way. He never seems rushed and conquers the most difficult technical parts at the end with ease. Most pianists have to work so feverishly to get through the end that they either sacrifice tempo ...

    Paganini-Liszt La Campanella

Fragment from "Black and Pink" DVD

    pianomanrsn01 pianomanrsn01 commented:

Rarely do the pianists themselves have time to block or remove criticism but you can bet that their managers, agents, and publicists do their best to make people think their clients walk on water. I have seen Valentina twice in concert including a performance last year in Seattle. She is talented...

Truecrypt plays Mussorgsky Pictures at an Exhibition (4/4)

    Part IV

The Hut on Hen's Legs (Baba-Yaga)

The Bogatyr Gates (in the Capital in Kiev)

    pianomanrsn01 pianomanrsn01 commented:

Don't believe for a moment that this is some non-professional pianist. It is such a popular recording piece, I cannot pick this out for sure but it sounds like Victor Merzhanov to me. In any event, this is someone that is an elite pianist, not some hacker that just sat down to play.
