Ira L. Bond is an artist, educator, researcher, cultural anthropologist, community activist, masquerade, costume, musician and dance enrichment/specialist of over 20 years. He has recently graduated from Eastern University with a Masters in Multicultural Education. Prior to Iras Graduation, he spent 8 years as a member of Alliance for Progress Charter Schools family. Part of his experience included being the Cultural Enrichment Director for the school. It was during these years that he realized the significance of cultural awareness, performance, presentation and self-esteem for students of all ages. With strong home and school support, students achieved academic excellence through the arts and arts integration. As Cultural Enrichment Director, Ira facilitated the presentation of cultural awareness through the medium of performing arts. 400 students from K through 5th grade presented three performances a year on various subjects of cultural awareness. Instruction time was used to teach culturally significant subjects, and integrated academic subjects such as writing, math and reading skills. The performances provided an opportunity for the community to support the youth, the youth to feel accomplished, (which increases self-esteem) and for the community to be educated as well. Currently Ira's residencies include Swarthmore-Rutledge Elementary School, Germantown Academy, and the Art Sanctuarys program called North at the Church of the Advocate in Philadelphia. Ira is also involved in several after school and professional cultural education programs including being the lead guest drummer of Melvin Deals African Heritage Dance Company of Washington D.C., lead drum for Messiah Dance Works of Philadelphia, and co-director lead drummer for Imani Edu-tainers African Dancers and Drummers of Lancaster Pennsylvania and lead percussionist for Philadelphias eldest African Dance company Kulu-Mele. Ira is also the founder and director of Diabate Cultural and Performing Arts of 15 years where traditional folklore, artistry and percussion are taught.

African Masquerade is Iras specialty. Ira maintains over 15 traditional African Masquerades in full dress. These masquerades are from the countries of Guinea, Mali, Nigeria and Senegal. One of the most popular of these masks is the Chakaba danced on stilts! In 2007 Ira travelled to Antiock Universitys Art and Cultural program in Mali West Africa where he intensely studied French, Bamana, African Music, Dance and Masquerade for three months with the National Ballet of Mali. For the following two years, Ira has returned to Mali bringing his students from America to study with him abroad. In a state where many children are devoid of guidelines, principles, self-esteem and character, traditional and creative arts, laughter and entertainment can be the vehicle that these children will realize their potential, and prove to be successful adults. It is the calling of Ira Bond to be the Cultural Enrichment Specialist, by supporting the creation of a truly interactive, arts integrated multicultural cultural experience for students.
