I started playing uke in late 2007 after seeing a video of Jake Shimabukuro playing 'while my guitar gently weeps' on youtube. Although I knew I would never play like that it opened my eyes to how good a ukulele could sound and I went out and bought myself a cheap one to see if I liked it. The next youtube video that set me on my course toward an obsession with this little instrument was called 'learning uke with benny' (actually a series of videos - check them out if you are a beginner, they are excellent!). I have since spent countless hours checking out videos on youtube and learning to play the instrument. Playing guitar was a head start, so I was able to pick up the basics fairly quickly. I still love watching people play, and it doesn't matter to me whether it is a virtuoso performance from someone like Jake or a first post from a complete beginner. You won't find any virtuoso performances on my videos but you might hear what a uke that you are thinking of buying sounds like.
