Philip McKeon is the third child of the grandaughter of Australian Federation artist William Short Sr [1833-1917], who together with his father, Colonial artist Henry Short [1807-1865] and son William Henry Short Jr [1875-1947], founded a family tradition in the arts.
Philip served an apprenticeship with the audio-visual artist Roger Foley (Ellis D. Fogg) in Sydney during the 1970s and has since painted and exhibited extensively in St Kilda, The Dandenong Ranges and on the Mornington Peninsula in his family's home state of Victoria.
Currently a resident of Redfern, Philip holds a Bachelor of Arts [Edith Cowan, 1994] in Aboriginal, Intercultural and Justice Studies and edits the internet site http://2mf.net.
